Jay joined the Wealthspire team in 2020 after his extensive tenure as founding partner and Chairman of StratWealth, where he and his partners built a multiple award-winning financial advisory firm. He is now a Managing Director and advisor with Wealthspire, serving clients from the firm’s Fulton and Annapolis, MD offices.

Jay has been listed as one of the 250 Top U.S. Advisers in Worth Magazine in 2001, 2002, and 2004, and is the 2015 recipient of SmartCEO’s Money Manager Award. James is a past President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Maryland Institute of Certified Financial Planners. For 8 years, he was also on the Board of Directors with the USA Olympic Team for Bobsled and Skeleton (USABS). Even though he is retired from the Board of USABS, he still serves on the Nominating Committee to help the future of the Olympic organization. Locally, Jay currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Anne Arundel Medical Center Foundation. While his children attended Archbishop Spalding High School, Jay also spent 6 years on the Board of Directors for this leading high school in the Diocese. In the past, Jay has been quoted extensively in the local press and served on a panel of CFP®s to answer readers’ questions for a special event at USA Today.

Raised in Washington, D.C., Jay is a 1982 graduate of Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania and earned his CFP® designation from the College for Financial Planning in Denver in 1991. He is also an Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®). Currently he lives in Severna Park, Maryland, with his wife, Maryrose.
