NFP Corp., an insurance broker and consultant, has formed a new financial advice practice by merging its newly-acquired Bronfman Rothschild with Sontag Advisory, NFP says.

New York-based Wealthspire Advisors, as the new entity is called, already has more than 120 "associates" overseeing around $10 billion as of the end of September from 11 offices in seven states, according to a press release from NFP.

Mike LaMena is now the CEO of the combined firm and Howard Sontag is its chairman. LaMena was previously president, CEO and COO of Bronfman Rothschild, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Sontag was previously chairman and senior managing director at Sontag Advisory, according to his profile on the company's website.

NFP first announced plans in March to acquire Bronfman Rothschild, which has offices throughout the Midwest and East Coast, and merge it with New York-based Sontag, an NFP subsidiary offering wealth management and investment advice to clients in more than 30 states.

The companies didn't disclose the terms of the deal, which was originally expected to close in the second quarter.

The move is aimed at growing the wealth advisory business at NFP, which has more than 5,400 global employees and offers property and casualty, corporate benefits, retirement and individual insurance services through affiliates and subsidiaries, the company says.
